If Wood tweeted "lol" before the game because he was not starting. If I were the Lakers I would waive him tomorrow. Sorry, the one who needs to be "waived" is Ham. We agree on Ham, but Wood adds no value and if he wants to be a clown get rid of him. I would play Castleton and run the offense with him at the freethrow line/ high post. He is a very good passer. I think he can hold his own on demand rebound as well.

I agree with la86 that Castleton should get a shot to play in light of our struggles to find a solid 5 backup and the skill he pointed out for his passing. The game is now a big man’s passing game. The better the big man at passing the better your team, period. His problem is his defense and lack of shot making at the NBA level. Both he could improve on given the time and minutes or he falter. Won’t know until he gets time. However I wouldn’t waive Wood, surely not for a tweet. To me, when this type of behavior becomes toxic is when the team is on one page with the coach and 1 player isn’t. That player making a stink should be removed. But that’s not the case here. Ham doesn’t have the locker room, he doesn’t have the system that players respect and there are several players groveling. He’s the problem and the one with the power to play Castleton but doesn’t. His dumb ass is STILL not starting Vanderbilt despite every measure known to basketball showing his positive impact.

Agree with not waiving player over a tweet, but I am coming from the angle that Ham will not be fired. Jeannie Buss just not have that leadership in her.

That’s probably true but if true then the real problem with the franchise. A move like that would be a flex from an undeserving place. I do however think there is a possibility of Ham getting fired. Lose to Boston tomorrow and the next couple games and the fire will be lit and so large even Jeanie - I want to be liked - Buss won’t be able to ignore it imo.

Isn't Castleton a 2-way contract player? Not sure how many eligible games he has left with us or if playoffs count.

Isn't Castleton a 2-way contract player? Not sure how many eligible games he has left with us or if playoffs count. He can play 50 games. He’s played only 5 and we have 33 left. He can play every game til the end now. He can also play in the playoffs if we convert him from a 2 way player to a regular contract by seasons end. Unlikely as I think they will look to the buyout market post Feb deadline to fill up the 15 playoff roster.

I miss Dennis the Menace. We went from having nice guard depth to no guard depth after parting with him and Lonnie.

I miss Dennis the Menace. We went from having nice guard depth to no guard depth after parting with him and Lonnie. Big time. The gamble on Gabe Vincent has fucked the entire team to an extent. Even if he were healthy I think we’d still be struggling because he’s a weak playmaker, just like Vando, Cam Reddish, Rui, Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood. The more playmaking capable players you have, the better your potential offense. The more you tow out there who can’t, the greater the detriment. Dennis really helped thread a needle within the fabric of the team. If we could do a mulligan we’d do it.

Should be but we have another incompetent Buss child running the show. With all due respect to Jeanie, whom has done some things well in her tenure, does not have that drive as an owner to win at all costs. That is what separated Jerry from his competition. He paved the way to pay the players more than anyone else, he sought out the best coaches in the world and paid them. He was clearly a man possessed about winning… like Magic, like Kobe, like Riley… Jeanie doesn’t fit that profile. She’s enjoying the spoils of her family’s and the NBA’s success. She seems content to have a seat at the table as a woman, for the token of equality. She allows inner circle dealings to be contaminated with friendships. I’m going to beat the dead horse again but she played hard ball with Alex Caruso over a measly (relative to NBA scale pay) 1.1Million dollars in 2021. The going rate for a top rate defender at that time was between 10-15M per year. He asked for a match on the MLE, 8.6M which is a hard bargain in itself and she pulled the “I can’t go any higher than 7.5” and lost him. He is EXACTLY what we’re missing on this team right now. And last season and the season before that. Teams inquiring about him in Chicago now are reportedly being told they want 2 1st round picks for him. THAT is how valuable Alex Caruso is and you are a major dumbfuck if you didn’t realize that then when he had already proven to be everything he is.

Further, she also didn't want to give Ty Lue I believe an extra year in negotiations when he WANTED TO BE THE LAKER COACH. Whatever the sticking point was, it wasn't significant at all. So she got cheap again with the coach. Look at what Ty is doing right down the hallway. Meanwhile, we're stuck with a head coach who has no idea what he's doing and is losing more respect from Laker players each day.

Pitfalls of handing over reigns to nepo babies. They got it easy, they run it easy. Feel bad for LBJ. Wasting away his golden years. Caruso situation was a travesty.
