I don't buy Kaepernick as a starting QB for the long haul. SF may be close to top 5 based on defense alone though.
1. Green Bay 2. Denver 3. Atlanta 4. New Orleans 5. Miami (my surprise team of the year)

Honest question: What's so great about GB? You believe that much in Lacy?

Honest question: What's so great about GB? You believe that much in Lacy? Not necessarily Lacy. More Rodgers. Plus, their division looks pretty weak overall. Unless Cutler can cut his interceptions in half, I don't really see a team that will challenge the Packers in the NFC. Lions MAYBE, but they will be relying heavily on Reggie Bush, which is a bad sign.

Rodgers couldn't get it done last few years and other teams improved more. Sure division should be a slam dunk but come playoff time comes the real teams. GB got carved up last playoffs and I don't see that changing. Can't beat SF or Seattle
Atlanta has better options in shootout

I don't trust Wilson enough yet to see him finishing that strong. Same with Kaepernick. Dude had half a great season and SF went all in on him. I smell a season of disappointment for the 49ers.

Agree completely about Kap. but 49ers elite with Alex Smith and he's a joke. Defense and system has them better than GB. Wilson was a complete beast 2nd half of season which shows improvement to me, plus the guy is such a hard worker and game preparer. He should only improve and Seattle was blowing up 2nd half of season and Wilson didn't even go for 200 yards a game. Shows to me with weapons and improvement team can only improve and even if he's the same. Running game and defense is more than enough especially with added pass rush paired with top secondary in league

He blows, and chiefs way overpaid for him. He's not going to help you guys score and TOs will spike You can't game manage from behind. Smith will be forced to throw and that's trouble

That is why KC traded for him. KC was stuck with Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn, who gave footballs away to the opposing defense more than a local charity gives during Christmas time. Kc had the worst turnover rate in the NFL last season, that is why they sucked so much. So for KC, Alex Smith is actually a major upgrade. I think Smith will be fine, with Charles in the backfield, very good o-line with basically two ver good LT's on it, a solid TE corp, and Dwayne Bowe on the outside.

Like I said his TO's will skyrocket. SF took the ball out of his hands and he game managed. That's why his interceptions went way down. They simply didn't have him do much and they could get away with it because the Defense was so good and the running game put points on the board as well as the kicking game. Alex Smith simply didn't produce TDs
KC on the other hand was a very low scoring team. They will need Alex Smith to try to put up points which is simply not his strength and it will not go well
You can't play safe if you are trailing and need to score. The ball in Smith's hands has never ended well. QB whisperer can't save him now

KC's roster is very talented, and had three times more pro bowlers than wins, including 75% of their LB core, and one of them wasn't Brandon Flowers, who is probably KC's best defensive player.

Charles is a beast for sure, but little faith in Reid after he misused McCoy and Charles beasted for years but doesn't score.
You don't add one of the worst scoring QBs and expect the team to start putting up points

Updated: Looks like 1. Seattle 2. Denver 3. New Orleans 4. NE 5. Chiefs I would put Denver above Seattle. Seattle seems highly dependent on home field, and needed a pick 6 yesterday to beat Houston. It will be interesting to see how New England handles a few decent to tough upcoming opponents (Bengals, Saints, Dolphins, Broncos) after a good win over Atlanta yesterday (but barely beating the Bills and Jets). Tough team to gauge right now, but they haven't slipped yet.

Destroyed SF, beat Houston in a game that showed grit. Denver hasn't beaten a single team above average. picked on raiders, pathetic giants, and the just as pathetic Eagles. Rebuilding Ravens closest thing to a decent win but they're average at best with flacco in charge

Complete team vs 1 dimensional. Denver is blowing out the Bobcats. Seattle blew out the pre-season title favorite and beat the 2nd best team in AFC. Denver hasn't seen a quality opponent yet. Elite defense lasts all year. Offense changes week to week. Consensus has denver 2nd
