You may have seen this in the LA Times already: “Dwight is very committed to playing and winning,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “Andrew has been up and down on that issue. There are times he wants to play, do a great job and he goes out and does it. Then there are other times where it seems like he’s not focused."
“When I first started working with him, he was eager to learn,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “He appreciated me shortening the learning curve. Once he figured he did everything he wanted to do in terms of learning, he didn’t want me to bother him constantly going over the fundamentals.” The first part really echoes the feelings that a lot of Laker Fans had these last few years. I've supported Drew ever since his slow rise off the bench behind Kwame Brown. I watched him go down live on TV, with brutal knee injuries... not once, but twice (along with a few "tweaks" every now and then). Each time, I hoped that he would somehow come back stronger than before... But after investing so much energy in supporting him, I had finally become exhausted at some point last season. Maybe it was the 3 point shooting... or the "shrugging off" of losses... or the dumb comments (ie: "Close out games are easy")... or lack of focus during time outs... I don't know, but he really started to rub me wrong last season, more than any other. Like loanman once mentioned... the "Bynum Era has come to an end"... lol if you can even call it that. All I can think is, good riddance.

Like everything Dwight will be judged on rings in LA. Needs 2 to match Bynum...

Like everything Dwight will be judged on rings in LA. Needs 2 to match Bynum... Yeah, Definitely... Lakers vs Philly game should be pretty interesting tho. Willing to bet that Bynum will want to sent a message to LA, kinda like a spurned Shaq did with the Heat. This time, it will be Bynum trying to prove that he is the best C in the league... but Championships are all that matters now, as you pointed out.

Likewise I supported Andrew from the time I saw him show that fire against Shaq, then the next season when he started demonstrating the footwork and soft touch he has today. The kid has really come a long way.
But the one thing that was most apparent this past season was a complete disconnect from what team unity and purpose that basketball is really all about a spoiled, young man with terrible perspective for the big picture. The 3 point shot was bad but justifying it and challenging it was stupid, disruptive and unnecessary.
What was worse was the pouting on the bench and the smirking when we were losing and him bench. I wanted him off this team since then. That's cancerous and detrimental. Now the teams success would lie in the hands of man who's far from mature and ready to handle the duties required of him.
On the other hand Dwight gets frustrated too quickly for my taste and I'm only hoping Kobe and Nash can successfully curb that immaturity because he's much more dominant.

That said for this team to actually win championships Dwight's going to have to become the man. He can't piggie back off a Prime Kobe and Pau like Drew did.
And I think he will.

I'm not counting on Nash to be any kind of leader. Lets hope Dwight stays out of foul trouble and is act was just because he wanted out of Orlando.
As for Bynum's behavior it seemed to get much worse with a pushover like Brown as the Coach. Never wanted him either

Howard will learn a lot from Kareem if he is willing to listen. Kareem is an excellent teacher. His teachers include the great John Wooden and of course Bruce Lee.
