Getting CP3 still would have been better imo.
I'm fairly sure that Mitch planned on going after Dwight from the very beginning... so chances are, we'd have a core of CP3, D12, Kobe right now... with Metta at the 3. You can pretty much put any semi-competent PF (ie: Jordan Hill) beside them and that team would be solid. Probably extends Kobe's career for another 2+ years with those guys on the roster too.
Instead, we get an aging Nash... and Gasol, who I'm not too confident in anymore. I mean, yes I'm happy and I do think we have enough to win it all, but I have to be honest and say that veto still stings a bit. As good as the current team is, the alternative might have been even better.

Yeah only if we still get Howard at the end Of the day to me the key to any of these trades that happened or didn't happen was always D12

I felt that way at first too LDG but am optimistic about how much better this can be.
If Steve Nash can stay healthy and play strong for 28-32 mins a game for the next 2 years, I'd be very pleased with this team. Sure CP3 is better and that leader we'd want into the future but the time is now.
Kobe doesn't have much time left to play at a high level and I like the balance of this team being able to keep Pau, whom I've grown to hate in a lot of ways but whom will now become an X-factor and not the key component to the team's success.
Nash is better shooter than CP3 from everywhere on the floor and that's going to be key for a team that has 2 post up bigs. No more Steve Blake to keep the teams from packing the paint. And he has immense heart. If we're in a tough tough battle at some point in the playoffs I already know Kobe and Metta will leave it all on the floor. Now I know Nash will too. He wants to win a title as bad as anyone at this point and that fire will be huge come playoff time.

Nash's defense scares me but he can make up for it by leading league in 3's. I do trust him to hang onto the ball though and help prevent the team from blowing leads from being careless with the ball like how LA "lost" to OKC in a series they should have won
