The rising stars all lost though - Beto, Abrams, Gillum. Yeah but I dont' think Beto and Gillum are done though. The fact that they lost may be a blessing in disguise when it comes to 2020. Thats what I'm hoping for. They have national name recognition which can prove to be very beneficial in 2020. Although if they were senator or give for two yrs that would demobstrate experience. Like Obama.

True, but more and more candidates without any office experience are running now. More people are going away from traditional candidates who have been in politics their entire career and voting for younger less experienced people who mirror their values. New day and age in politics. And if the racist we have in the White House now can be elected, then anybody can win on any level.

Well, you have to start somewhere. If you're running for a low level government position, chances are you may not have any government experience. If you can run a successful campaign, articulate the issues that people care about, and have the knowledge to know how to solve problems then I say why not run for office?

Shit I know a thing or two about treating my common cold but I don't go around calling myself a doctor.

It was always maintained as elite to be exclusionary by design. What’s been proven now is that galvanizing voters by any means necessary supersedes all other factors. The other side could learn from that.

When they go low, kick them in the nuts is what I say. The Reputards have used every hate filled, nativist, Nazi tactic in the book...and they won the White House, Senate, House and the Judiciary because of it. Winning back the House is just one step. But the Senate is one Ginsberg away from securing the Judiciary for a lifetime.
I'm tired of taking the high road and having some hick racist from South and North Dakota deciding the Presidency because of some arcane electorate rule.
And, by the way, if you don't elections matter, Trump just fired Sessions, went over Rosenstein's head and hired his own storm trooper to head the DOJ. That means goodbye Mueller....and the Supreme Court, and his crony Cavanaugh will block any judicial means to right the wrong.
This is how democracy dies unless you are willing to strike where it hurts.

They're too interested in Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat to care about these issues. It's sad because some of these students (and adults btw) are too stuck on their phones that they don't even know how to read a clock anymore 2b. Unless it's a digital clock some of these students can't tell you what time it is in the day.

There should be voting by instagram. That will resolve the turnout problem.

It’s OBVIOUS a complete scam on the concept of democracy, something that nearly all Republican blowhards can’t even conjure a reasonable argument to support. Instead, you get the “if it benefits my team then I don’t care” thus I won’t talk about it syndrome. Fuck those people. It’s interesting how those same people will come out of the woodwork to “protect the constitution” SELECTIVELY to protect just one amendment, ignoring the other 26. They claim it must be protected because “founding fathers this or constitution that” ignoring the FACT that their entire premise is based on a modern day DISTORTION of the amendment. Still, somehow they want people to take them seriously as protectors of something fundamentally important despite their ignoring mass voting disenfranchisement, district mapping cheating etc. Lol eat a dick gun lobby shit gibbon.

Yeah for sure. And all of the hypocrisy of epic proportions when it comes to this president by the Republicans. If Obama did a QUARTER of the crap Trump has done, they would of impeached him. The have excused his sexist, racist, and just straight up erratic behavior that is beneath the office of the presidency in the name of, "Well.....he's an outsider and we'll excuse that because all I care about is his policies. To hell with how other people's lives are negatively being effected". If Obama or any Democrat president acted like this, the Republicans would be doing anything in their power to stop him. Most of the Republicans in office are spineless cowards who know this is wrong but are too scared to speak out for fear of losing power. Texas, Louisiana, and North Carolina in particular have been cheating for years with gerrymandering despite how blue these states are becoming year by year. Making up fraudulent voter ID laws despite the fact that the notion of illegal voting has been proven to be a lie. And I dare any Trump supporter to refute this.

Well anyone with an ounce of rational thought can see that the Republican Party is a complete sham, void of ethics, concern for democracy and now at this very moment basic human decency. I talk with friends around the world about this regularly and no one outside the US can even comprehend how it’s possible for people to support them. What I tell them is the power of indoctrination is by far the most powerful force in social human world. People have been ingrained to believe in a 2 party system that largely functions as one body but is separated by ideas that largely have nothing to do with modern life. Obviously some do and they are exploited perpetually through fear. Once you’ve mobilized a base void of critical thinking that will simply follow any direction the power yields, coupled with full control of the government branches, you basically have a blank slate to do as you please. And that more or less is what’s transpired in the last 20 months. Any pretense of moral superiority has been cast aside to do anything and everything that is financially advantageous for the tiniest of constituencies in terms of pure population percentage. That suits Republican voters just fine so long as Master keeps telling them what they want to hear. This should be easy to see but smoke screens are set daily to distract people from what is going on and the economy is already in a mode of keeping workers constantly insecure so that they have no power and that they have no time to do anything else but survive. This is obviously advantageous to those who own capital. What’s hilarious (in a non laughing kind of way) is that the people who earn the most, largely and increasingly so don’t pay any taxes. This is the fraud being committed against the American people. Those same people use the working class tax dollars to subsidize many of their businesses and keep the US war machine running at full capacity. Does anyone ever stop and consider we spend more on our military than the next highest 8 countries combined? That’s that just spending budget, surely not the real cost in total. If you look at a pie graph the vast majority of spending goes overwhelming to military spending. No that’s not solider salary either. It’s endless contracts to build missiles that never get fired, planes that never fly and soldiers who come back scarred from battle. That’s why you can’t afford to feed the poor, maintain infrastructure or sustain adequate educational institutions. In other developed countries where a fraction of wealth is produced these aren’t social problems. Only here. And indoctrination is why.

That’s why you can’t afford to feed the poor, maintain infrastructure or sustain adequate educational institutions. In other developed countries where a fraction of wealth is produced these aren’t social problems. Only here. And indoctrination is why. Definitely agree that this country has prioritized military over just about everything. In fact, I would of guessed that we spend more than the next 8 powerful countries combined on the military for sure. But this is why the country has to "manufacture" a war so that the spending becomes justified. Then you have the propaganda machine in effect to get people to support the government as it goes on its crusades for war (the indoctrination as you pointed out). The only part that I somewhat disagree with you is that this country has actually largely failed soldiers who have come back home after they have been injured from combat. When veterans have to wait 6 to 8 months to see a doctor at the VA, when they have to fight tooth and nail to get their health benefits, when they are expected to come back home and transition into normal civilian life even though they have been through months or years of warfare without the consideration of the impact war has on the human brain (PTSD), and when veterans are committing suicide at a rate of 1 suicide about every 70 minutes in this country today that tells you a lot of where this country places its priority. Hence, this is another reason why I have completely forsaken football and refuse to support it at any level. Sure it got better after Vietnam, but it still largely has failed these guys. And I know this to be true because I work with veterans as well. Not to go too off topic but this is why I believe football is a scam at every level (recreational up to the NFL) and has duped the average American into thinking that it's cool to go out and get your head busted up over and over because football is "America's sport". The NFL has made billions of dollars while knowing this truth. But hey, as long as we can keep the wool over the eyes of the masses and keep them happy every Sunday with their beers and popcorn it's ok. The majority of people who enroll in the military are poor and young. So it's easy to entice them and fool them with false promises that their life is going to be wonderful as long as they sign on the dotted line. They're sheep being lead to slaughter especially when we have politicians who are in the back pocket of big business war contractors who make a living off of war. Of course I don't blame the poor, I blame those who peddle the lies that exploit poor people to put money in the pockets of those who will never experience a day in combat. Truth

No brother, we agree on that too. Because Republicans don’t care about PTSD. The VA is underfunded and if it was funded adequately the cost of war would balloon even greater.
