well at least he doesn't have to worry about running an offense with two of the best iso players in the game. Good luck with the defense part though.

He’s locked up til 2026 which is the remainder of his time being a star level player. He showed signs of decline this season that he never has before. Understandably so, he’s 34 about to be 35 and has suffered career threatening injury. He looked strong after taking that full season + of recovery from the Achilles tear, but the decline in him was apparent this postseason. He doesn’t have much longer to be one of the best handful of players. Maybe another season or 2. Just enough time for Frank Vogel to waste it “figuring it out” offensively. I don’t even think his defense is that great either. He’s got his head stuck up his own ass about his philosophies that I don’t even worry about this team anymore now that he’s there.
In order to be successful in the NBA today, the ball has to move, the more places the better, the faster the better, requiring all 5 players to have the skill do so as playmakers. That’s optimal basketball. Some old school coaches still love towing some goon giant dinosaur 5 that can’t do shit but dunk and they are not winning like the coaches who play with skilled big men players. Phoenix is now going to make Ayton that guy.
One thing I know for sure, Frank doesn’t understand shit about the offense I’m describing. If he did he’d have played Kyle Kuzma with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He never did. With Caruso and KCP we’d have been better off. Imagine adding Reaves to that core.

Not unless there's some things he has learned since his firing from the Lakers.

I guarantee the Suns never win a title with Frank Vogel G-U-A-R-A-N-T-E-E Strangely enough, they follow that hire with the news that they intend to keep CP3 and trade Ayton. Ayton has been a bit of a pariah, but Vogel is good with big men. CP3 would be another guarantee that Vogel doesn't win. They can safely schedule vacations in early June next summer.

They’re smart to move Ayton but I’m skeptical what they can get for him. He’s overpaid because the Suns overpaid him.

Both players are players who’ve missed lots of games the last few years. It’s real life, not NBA 2k where you turn off the injuries. Booker played previous game and they lost that one too. In order to win, you need a system that sustains (to whatever degree it can) without every player available.

Phoenix press already scratching their heads over the “defensive” minded coach Vogel. Suns are 1 game above .500 and have the 20th ranked defense in the league.
“One thing has become clear: the Suns’ defense sucks. I don’t know how else to phrase it, so I’ll stick with what 9-year-old me would’ve said. Continuity, schmondtinuity. Defense is a philosophy downloaded to players that involves attitude and effort. Whatever “defensive-minded” head coach Frank Vogel has downloaded isn’t defense. The file is corrupt.”
😂
“Something needs to change.
“We have guys that really compete that are winners,” Vogel said in the postgame presser. “We’re going to be a group that has a great scheme, a very intelligent defensive scheme that our guys will be very well-prepared from game to game. So I think the ceiling is very high at what we can be on the defensive side of the ball.”
We’re waiting...
...and I don’t know if it’s going to happen.”
😂😂😂
Yeah, wait a whole season Suns… Frank will make sure it works! 🤣

One glance at the Suns roster and anybody could (should) have been able to see they don't have a chance in hell at being a good defensive team. I said when they first assembled this team, they aint scaring anybody imo. Gotta be able to stop people. Even IF they were fully healthy I don't think you have a shot at a title when your 3 best players don't play any defense (Book/Beal/Durant). Grayson Allen? Lol, maybe some effort but he aint stopping anyone. Okogie? Effort on the glass but he ain't stopping anybody of note either. Vogel is feeding them pure coach speak and cashing his checks until he's fired or steps down.

Lol
Fully healthy big 3 Suns getting smashed by Clippers at home by double digits.
Hiring a defensive “guru” in the modern era is akin to hiring an offensive “guru” in the 90s/00s
