But we still have to rely on old reliable Lebron to win games…..smh. AD has still not taken the mantle and at this point I don’t think he ever will. He’ll still perform above average but if that passing of the torch was going to happen, it would have happened by now. Lebron is out tonight, and while we SHOULD still win this game, I won’t be surprised if we have to gut it out without him. Davis is definitely not a championship level top dog. He’s close, but not it. Defensively he’s elite and helps on that end towards end goals but his offense is a roller coaster ride. There were games last year where he went for 40 or 50 but he doesn’t have the ability to maintain an offensive rhythm. I say it still has to do with a lack of comfort with the ball in his hands. He’s going hard on the attack but is ALWAYS off balance when he goes hard. It’s like as if he’s attacking with the expectation of getting some kind of contact but loads up so much of his weight to absorb the contact that he doesn’t have control over his follow through. He’s still always falling to the floor whether a big or small is defending. There is no fixing this because he doesn’t see a problem, it is who he is. The part that bothers me about it all is that Jokic owns him now and he knows it and the only way to beat that team is for AD to go toe to toe with Nikola. You don’t have to own him, you just have to compete stride for stride. AD appears to be more like David Robinson when he faced Hakeem when he faces Joker. That is a bad sign for us. I can't add anything else to this. Spot on analysis of AD.

AD never has and never will be the unquestioned number 1 on a championship team. His pairing with Lebron has always been potentially devastating for opposing teams if they're both healthy and have the right pieces around them. That duo potential is waning with Lebron aging and we'll see how much he has in the tank this season. Lebron will always lead that duo because of his superior brain and superior ability to make good things happen with the ball in his hands.
Right now opposing teams are sending everything they have at their 2man game and daring The Others to do something about it so Lakers need to make teams pay for it. Reddish/Rui/Wood knocked em down in the 4th and Reaves feasted a bit as well. Just one game though. Until the team shows they will consistently make teams pay for loading up on our stars it will continue. Part of why Jokic is so hard to handle is because they've built around him to make teams pay for doubling. Combine that with his elite passing and you've got trouble if you double.

It’s a problem though due to Lebron’s age. Lebron age 36 and below = no issue. At this stage of his career he needs more of a rock to support him imo. All he really needs to do is focus on attacking the rim off the dribble and being comfortable getting his shot off. He’s such a good shooter and ball handler it’s a shame to see him so close yet so far. I’ve long thought that his idea of playing center was wrong in that it was about bulking up and posting up, it was about exploiting whatever mismatch the other team throws at him.

Second consecutive really good game from Cam Reddish on both ends of the floor. Not exactly holding my breath for it to continue but it's a good sign that he may be settling into a nice role.
Taurean Prince's hustle and overall good role play continued. I like his length when he gets near the basket attacking closeouts. He has had two games in a row with big-time winning hustle plays as well.
AD was a little quiet in some respects early in the game but once again was our entire defense near the paint and it ended up being a really nice game from him in the end. 3 blocks doesn't tell the story as he challenged/changed a dozen. Best player on the floor on both ends and the 6 assists were nice to see. Good to see our guards find him with some nice passes as well.
DLo had some head scratching plays as usual but he also made impact with his scoring and dished out 9 assists, some of which were noooiiiice. Couple good plays on defense.
Undefeated so far with Reaves doing his best Manu impression as our 6th man as well. He was awesome late.
Yes it's the "lowly" Blazers but they're young and athletic kinda like the Rockets who smoked us the other night in Houston. Good win without Lebron.

I can see it on his face, he’s gaining confidence and starting to play with joy and frankly, it’s a beautiful thing to see. I know this young man has struggled to find a place in the league, has failed to live up to the expectations placed upon him by recruiters, scouts etc. and that pressure has to be tough. I’m rooting for him and I like what Ham has been able to give him. I’m gaining optimism that he can become a solid rotational piece. It was a bit frustrating to watch the lowly Blazers hang around too long but at this stage in the season, still down a few key players plus Lebron, I’ll take the win. AD played solid enough overall and good contributions from AR and Prince, we needed this one.

At this point a win is a win regardless of who it comes by.
The wins will build confidence in the team and hopefully Ham can take careful note of his rotations and see patterns when the team is at its best. A win without Lebron playing is always good to see.

We mentioned Ham prior to the season and we had major doubts about him It is early in the season We will be better If this was Ham’s first season, then I can see your point in giving him more time. This is his second year and it appears he still has no clue about how to run an offense. And the defense has also stunk too—something that should be his strength. Injuries are one thing, but repeated patterns of not seeing what doesn’t work is another. Again, this coach reminds me of Mike Brown when he coached the Lakers. We have to move in from Ham. It’s not going to happen this season though. But I’m saying it right now ya’ll—Ham is the biggest problem for this team. It’s not the roster, it’s the coach. BUMP

We are officially in trouble now. Under .500 nearly half way thru? Have to hire an offensive minded coach not a defensive one. We have Anthony Davis and others to lock down teams when needed.
What we don’t have is an offensive guru to guide the team how to play together on offense during a period of offensive revolution that is putting up points like never before.
I GUARANTEE that coach is NOT Doc Rivers.

At the same time, did he really have a choice? At some point, if nothing you are selling is working, then you got to be willing to listen to your players if you have any hope of improving.

Not saying that he shouldn't have done it. I'm just saying that the fact that he had to resort to it is a sign that he's not right for the part. Where it goes from here won't be great imo and I think it might get ugly.

Even as a player.
