Rumor mill has already begun to spin with talks of Lavine wanting out of Chicago and the Lakers supposedly being interested.
I have no interest in the guy. He plays shitty defense and doesn’t shoot the ball well enough to warrant the looks he takes.
MF makes $40M+ with 3 more seasons under contract AFTER this year with the final year around 50M. Want to resink the ship? Trade for this overpaid bum.
I DO however have interest in Alex Caruso but don’t see Chicago doing us any favors for him.

I will get extremely angry if the Lakers trade for him. the only path to him includes trading someone like Rui while depleting our depth which is a non starter. D'lo is a better fit on the Lakers than he is anyways. Caruso for Vincent would be perfect but that is a pipe dream.

Yeah no thanks. I'd gladly take Caruso back any time.

I'd consider Carter if the Bulls free him up as well, if not Caruso.

I’m worried that some of this sputtering will result in a hasty trade before the deadline.
Zach Lavine would be another Russell Westbrook type move that would gut depth only to provide a ball dominant non shooter who also plays pathetic defense and can’t rebound like Russell did.
I’m somewhat confident that the FO knows this.

God damn this team stinks.
They blew their wad on the In Season Tournament and look like complete garbage now. The defense is ok at times but very vulnerable to the 3p. Since we can’t ever hit 3s consistently as a team we are always extremely vulnerable to teams who do.
Lebron has looked his age since the IST too. No longer like MVP.
Chicago is shooting them well enough to call it game over already.
Frustrating.

Seems like the common theme is the Lakers just giving out practice shots. Now the effort looks awful

The thing about the defense to me, is we defend like we’re playing ourselves, daring teams to shoot the 3 while protecting the paint. That needs to invert like it did against Indiana who shoots more than anyone and we shut it off on them and beat them.
Meanwhile while other teams are ripping that ball through the net at historically unparalleled rates we’re stuck in the mud looking to “post up” AD like it’s 1999. In case some don’t understand what this means, it means the offense slows down to a snails pace, touches don’t create rhythm for shooters and everyone stands around trying not to get in the way. It is ABSOLUTELY the way to lose at basketball in 2023-24.
I’ve seen enough now this season to know, we aren’t a championship team. Not even close.

It's also clear that last year was a fluke and we only got to where we did because we matched up well vs Memphis and the Warriors. anyone else probably would've smoked us.

Man, I can't even watch most of the Laker games because of where I live and I don't have League Pass so all I can do is really go off of what ya'll say here, watch the nationally televised games, and listen to what the tv pundits are saying.
Something is not right about this team. And I think as I've said multiple times, it comes down to how Ham is preparing his guys. We can't seem to guard anyone and he doesn't have an offense that maximizes the talent of our roster.
I knew Ham wasn't the right guy a long time ago, but it's just becoming more and more clear now. I'm finally beginning to hear more rumbling from Laker fans about their displeasure with Ham and that noise needs to get louder.

Idk, there are a lot of flukes every year based on that. We were solid down the stretch of last season but still had some holes to sew up. Taurean Prince is ok but he’s not the patch. Cam Reddish is a welcomed defender but wildly inconsistent on offense. Gabe Vincent is a great on ball defender but lacks consistency on his shot and body. We didn’t get what we needed to tie it together because I know DLo is definitely NOT the guy who will take us to the next level. We can get to the same level but not higher.

The only way to ply through Anthony Davis on offense is if he becomes a playmaker. Only way. He HAS TO see the floor and be capable of making elite timely passes. If he does not develop this part of his game he is a team destroying iso blackhole a la Carmelo Anthony / Allen Iverson.
If he stays AD as we know it then he has to step back and be the clean up guy who plays defense. Dikembe Mutombo basically.

Pacers - 144 Celtics - 135 Sixers - 127 Cavs - 124 Hawks - 134 Clippers - 120 Knicks - 121
Lakers - 108
Tom Thibodeau and Eric Spoelstra teams are dropping more points than a fully healthy Laker roster. If anyone tells you the problem isn’t the offense they don’t know what they are talking about.

Missed the game last night but if this keeps up Rui and DLo are likely being shipped out. DLo is only signed for one year and has said he's looking to get the bag after this season and I imagine the Lakers aren't going to give it to him. We'll see what Rob does.
