I think Davis still has holes in his game that he’s failed to patch up, namely ball handling and playmaking while facing up. It’s something, Jokic, Embiid, Wemby, Chet and even Sengun can all do. When he tries to he’s often off balance, falling over before contact arrives and not controlled enough to make actual passes. Aside from this I don’t have any complaints about his play this season and I also don’t think he’s at fault for our woes. He’s played like the DPOY and remained reliable health wise so I’ll give him his due credit for that. A smarter coach would help him become the playmaker that he isn’t the way that Phil Jackson once did for Shaq, Mike, Kobe and Pau. I agree that it's not entirely on AD. He played well last 13-14 games yet majority of those are L. He's been better than last year. But I just don't have confidence he sustains it through playoffs.

Sammy, you know how hard I've been on AD the last few years and deservedly so. But I agree with 2b and Chief on this one. Lakers are not losing because of AD, they're freaking losing because of poor coaching primarily. AD is actually playing his behind off but they're losing because the complimentary pieces AD and Lebron are not performing well. And I believe most of it has to do with how they are being used and the constant line-up changes that Ham has done this season. There's zero sound philosophy on offense and if you're changing the lineups and consistently have weird rotations, then players can't develop a rhythm on offense. That's all coaching. Hell if it wasn't for Lebron and AD playing the way they are, our record would be even worse.

I'm considering entirety of the season - He will go back to his old ways of inconsistency and injuries soon enough.

Fair enough, who would you bring in to replace him? Good question, I don’t know to be honest with you. They may have to ride this out with Ham this season until there are more viable candidates next season. But if this season ends badly, there’s no way they can keep Ham next season even if it means rolling the dice with another coach who may not have much of a track record as long as they know how to run an offense that is conducive with today’s game. Yeah I agree. I think we ride this season with him and assess closely in the offseason. The lack of offensive consistency is troubling.
