Only a matter of time before someone breaks Kobe’s record. The 3p game is what will do it.
Hats off to Embiid who has played even better this year than last under Nick Nurse who has helped him evolve his game to another level.
That said, both Joel and KAT knew what today was… still inspiring the next generation like the Goat.

I don't see anyone scoring more than Kobe's 81. No one in the league now or on the horizon like Kobe and he did it just once. KAT's game was an embarrassment of hunting points that ended in a loss.

I definitely do. The 3p shot is why. Hit 15 in a game and you’re more than halfway there. Wembanyama might be someone who could in the future. Someone like Booker or Luka also could. Young Klay had chances to challenge a couple times when he was young but didn’t milk him to do so. To me the key is getting hot in the 2nd half as opposed to the 1st as Kat showed last night. 44 1st half then the pressure and defense held him to 18. Kobe had 26 at halftime and went scorched earth after that. Looking back at the game he could have broken 90 with some slight tweaks of the flow of the 2nd half even. He is my Goat.

It's just a matter of time. Heck, Booker, Embiid, and Lillard have already scored 70+ points in a game. All of them know how to shoot the 3 too. Given the current landscape of how the game is played, 90+ points is possible. I'm not saying it's going to happen tomorrow, but certainly in our lifetime someone will break Kobe's 81.

It was beyond impressive and yeah he probably would have beat 81 if he hadn’t already single handedly demolished Dallas. 🐐🐐

I clearly and distinctly remember what the score was at the end of 3 quarters of that Dallas game. Kobe 62 Mavs 61

Damn it. Part of why I said no one would go over 81 was I do not want Kobe'81 to be 3rd or lower in history.

4 big scoring games this week. Teams went 2-2. Booker missed the last shot down 2. Kobe would have scored. No one will take down Kobe's 81.lol

Remember the days 20 years ago when dumbfuck fans who knew nothing about the game of basketball claimed the way he played wasn’t how the game was supposed to be played? Where are those guys now? Sucking dick like the bitch asses that they always were.

What will always be overlooked about Kobe’s 81 game (and his 62 in 3 quarters) is that he did so in the lowest scoring / lowest paced era.
Pace adjusted in 1962, his 81 would be on par with 117. He basically score more points in that game than some teams would score as a whole on the regular in 2006.
