What a disappointment Jerry’s protege turned into Glad we wised up too though. Some people wanted to blame Jimmy only as if Mitch wasn’t complicit.

Tying your career as a Yes Man to executive MJ is a horrible move. That judgement alone kills any rep he had left at that point. Time to enjoy retirement.

But it also speaks to how horrible MJ was as an owner and talent evaluator in the game.
Minus the racist and horrific things Sterling did as an owner, MJ is right up there among the worst all-time owners and player evaluators in the game. Charles Barkley also spoke the truth about him on TNT years ago as well.

I still remember the 4 years $64M for Mozgov and the 4 years $72M for washed up Deng. And this was back when the cap was low. Yikes.

Dude should never be a GM again. A true certified lap dog GM is not what teams need.

I give credit to Magic and Rob for mitigating that disaster

Does that actually matter? Those guys should have never been signed in the first place. Just providing context To add additional context, Mitch could have theoretically used the jump in cap space to offer the same starting pay and less years and not outbid one’s self for max offering and max years. The number of years is what killed us not the use of space. Fast forward a few years later and that’s standard for non elite role player free agents.
