Skills challenge was cringe, boring and just dumb.
3p contest was probably the best event but still lacked real drama. I’m not a big fan of the 2 additional shots, even though players are vastly better 3p shooters than years past they aren’t delivering in the 3p contest. Craig Hodges and Larry Bird were still more impressive imo.
Dunk contest was lame. Mac was solid but it felt like a forced competition rather than a legit one.
All star game itself was uncompetitive and pointless.

All star game itself was uncompetitive and pointless. Bro I thought about creating a thread about this, but then I thought, to even make a thread about it would just bring more frustration. So now that you created one, I'll take the opportunity to say my 2 cents. First of all, I NEVER watch All-Star games for this reason. But last night was an exception. I took my son out to dinner last night and then we decided to go home and watch the rest of the All-Star game. By the time we got to our hotel, it was the beginning of the 3rd quarter in which the East was blowing out the West. I wasn't surprised by that because I thought the game would tighten up and that it would be a competitive 4th quarter as has been the case in recent years. But as we kept watching, the game just got worse and worse. I don't expect these guys to play hard in an exhibition game but this was a complete scam. When the game was over I told myself that was just an hour of my time I'll never get back. So at this point, I'm done with this All-Star festivities crap. Never was a big fan of the game itself, but this just put the nail in the coffin for me to watch at all. I didn't watch any of the other All Star events (which I'm glad I didn't), but was curious to see what they said about it on First Take today. SAS trashed it like he should have and so did Shannon. I mean if the players are going to trash the All-Star product like that, then why should we watch. I know I would have been disappointed if I was a paying patron at this game. Just cancel the All-Star game if this is what it has come to, but I know that's not going to happen.

I did not watch a second of all star weekend this year. I have lost all interest in it.
I used to love the Magic vs Bird all star games and the Kobe all star games.

Glad I didn't watch that garbage. Saw highlights and looked like nobody gave a single fk They fucked up by removing the charity goals each quarter and should have at least kept the Magic Number goal in the 4th Q. You have to give these competitors more of a reason to compete in an ASG these days otherwise you end up with a piss poor product of guys just clod-hopping around and trying not to expend energy or get hurt. Viewership actually went down if you take into account that the game was broadcast on many more platforms/channels compared to last year. So I hope the NBA will look at it again and do something smart.

I only watched highlights of the dunk contest and even that was largely a waste of time. "Let's see who they're jumping over this time..."
