the game vs the Warriors was a big game, why is stuff like this happening? lebron is good to go vs the Spurs but can't play a much more important game 24 hours before? can't play vs the Warriors but can do full throttle tomahawk dunks jumping off his hurting ankle in the all star game? who is making these decisions? did they make a collective decision that he isn't playing both sides of a back to back or something? and even if they did (that is fine if they did) why are they choosing the wrong game for him to play in?

Not ideal but I trust LeBron.
Getting 5 straight days of rest is probably advantageous to him. I agree I’d rather him play the Warriors than the Spurs but he’s probably going to look really good tomorrow.

I think the likely reason is because it was already pre-determined that he would sit out this game to have multiple consecutive days off as I heard or read somewhere he wasn't going to play earlier this week. But the more important issue to me is his overall health. I mean, it seems like this is more than just an ankle issue because this injury has been reoccurring over and over again. An ankle injury needs time to heal and if done properly is usually not a problem anymore, unless it was re-injured before it fully healed. This is the kind of thing that should be worrisome the closer we get to the playoffs where teams play just about every other day. Lebron has had to take games off all season because of this injury. He is absolutely essential to have on the roster and if he is compromised by April even if he does play every single game, we're certainly screwed. So yes, Lebron might play well against the Spurs, but what about the next game? And on and on and on...

Bron is fine but he's 39.
His right ankle issue from last season is good but he had a little tweak at the beginning of this season with his left ankle and they've put him on the injury report every game since as a convenient reason to load manage him at times and keep him ready for playoffs. Remember, last season he limped into the playoffs and that's the time when you want Lebron to be ready to rock with both legs under him. He had somewhat of a dress rehearsal with the in-season tournament and that's the Lebron you want available in the playoffs.
Ham has recently admitted to looking at the remaining schedule and having a secret plan of how many games they need to win for the rest of the season and they're probably just sticking with the plan. Games @ GS have historically been awfully officiated, you're already missing 4 other rotation players, first game after the ASB where you may not have your full wind back, it's a back to back on the road, you have a 2.5 game lead on the Warriors... likely planned on sitting Lebron and trying to win without him so that Bron could get a rare extended rest. You have Spurs @ home the very next night and that's much more of a realistic win that you want Lebron ready to ensure. Could have even won last nights game if Rui doesn't go from Jekyll to Hyde.
I don't blame Lebron at all for sitting last night. He's 39 and the Lakers have had a pretty grueling schedule this season, ranking #4 in strength of schedule and #8 in remaining strength of schedule. You want to take every chance you have at keeping him healthy for the playoffs. Seeding doesn't matter much these days - just need to get in as healthy as you can especially with a Lebron/AD team.

extremely pissed off after this Phoenix game. this should have been a win. Refs were giving the Lakers absolutely nothing, let Phoenix walk multiple times in the first quarter, then stopped calling fouls on Phoenix entirely. Suns shot 11 more FTs. Lakers attempted only 8 FTs despite multiple time where Bron and AD got hacked. But besides that it was just the same shit that has been plaguing us from game 1. Rebounding and that perimeter defense and shitty head coach. Did I mention the rebounding. Worst rebounding game of the season and that is saying something. AD got continually punked on the boards by Nurkic and he is about the only guy on the team capable of rebounding because not a damn other player boxes out. Suns got several 3 wide open 3 point attempts off of said offensive rebounds. Lakers made more shots than the suns and still lost.

I couldn’t even post about it yesterday cause Darvin Ham’s idiocy was so maddening. Still played Taurean Prince longer than he should have, still played Dinwiddie along side DLo like a damn fool.
Spencer needs integration to play a role. That role should be the playmaker position. When he’s not a playmaker he is a fairly limited player (like Westbrook for example). DLo is good for 30-32 mins a game imo. That leaves the door open for Spencer to play 18 mins a game or a bit more.
Max Christie has already been poorly used since acquiring Dinwiddie. Another capable player lost in the shuffle while a bonehead coach spins out of control overwhelmed by his responsibilities. Max should be playing the backup role to Austin but instead coach is giving that time to Spencer. And it’s a terrible decision. Max is a better defender and gives more of the intangibles that ball dominant Spencer does not.
Yesterday also highlighted Hayes’ limitations and why we need 1 more physical big man before the playoffs.

Vogel > Ham. Not implying that Vogel is an exceptional coach but if you are going to fire a coach and bring in a new one, the expectation is to move up instead of down in that department.

I'm not ready to go that far yet. Vogel is a bonehead in his own right with a whole other set of issues as a coach. His offensive sets are so bad its painful to watch tbh. While I thought Ham's were equally or close to equally as bad, he's changed that up over the past month or to leapfrog Frank's system imo. But Darvin is going to be an anchor slowing us down all the way til the bitter end.

I’m not even motivated to watch games anymore.
Just turned it on to watch the last 2 minutes of the 2nd quarter against the flips and they are getting blown out.
No need to watch anymore. This is another loss.

I want MWP to coldcock Harden again. I need it to happen so much. Harden flailed the entire first half, nba institutes this new flopping rule and he flopped all over the building and got calls off of them. they don't call blatant things like Kawhi's clear offensive basket interference and the lakers somehow shot 2 free throws in the first half compared to the clippers 14

This game turned south immediately when Ham put Cam and Prince in. I'd much rather see Christie. Really strange, Max came in and made a 3ptr followed by a nice drive and assist and Ham never played him again vs the Suns.
I don't think Utah is gonna catch us but at this point you can only hope getting smacked in the mouth repeatedly will wake them up eventually down the stretch. And for Vando to return.

Ham goes back to a Cam and Prince lineup but Lebron decides to go into beast mode momentarily and cuts the lead to 9.

Been an absolute MASTERCLASS by Lebron in this 4th. Holy smokes. What a win this would be.

Didn't like that stepback 3 attempt by Lebron. He had been picking them apart and the others were delivering when he swung the ball.
