I don't think there will be more pressure on any coach in the league (to win this season) more than Mike Brown. This is when he needs to prove his worth... and he has to do it within 1 year imo. No more grace periods or excuses.
It's basically Rings or Bust.

Not gonna lie... I'd swap those two right now (before the season starts) if given the option. Wouldn't even give Brown a chance to mess this up. I'd obviously prefer Phil overall, but that ship has sailed and won't be returning. |

If he gets to the finals and loses, I think he is safe, but anything short than a final's appearance, time to buy out Adelman's contract, lol

lol Yeah, not a big fan of Adelman... then again, I'm not a big fan of most of the coaches whose names were thrown around during our search.
Brown still worries me, none the less.

Really? You guys think Adelman sucks? I mean what he did for the Tpups was amazing,his offense was taylor made for the Lakers after Phil left IMHO.... I can only imagine how he would work with Nash, Howard and Gasol

I can only imagine how he would work with Nash, Howard and Gasol Lakers need a defensive presence and a non push over coach. Also what did he do for the Wolves offense besides have them score 3 less points a game and shoot worse from the field including 4% worse from 3? |

3 straight international competitions with Gold for Coach K.
I trust his ability to manage NBA players as much as anyone. Part of the reason why Nate McMillan is assisting him and not the other way around on those teams.

No coincidence the only guys to mess up Olympic play are Larry Brown and Tim Duncan.
Olympic coaching is nothing like the NBA though. Different rules, team of stars, and they are all willing to take lesser rules and forget about stats because individual ball control means nothing.
US doesn't win because of coaching. They won because of depth and superior talent. Coach K actually playing the best players unlike Brown isn't a new concept.
There's a reason guys who put up 20ppg in international play struggle to get off the bench in the NBA. There's a reason Coach K is afraid of the NBA and so many college coaches have failed. College and international play are also all about recruiting

No not at all. If coaching didn't matter us would always win. US also lost the worlds in 2002 and 2006 with different coaches / players etc.
I saw with my own eyes that coach K had those players playing the way he wanted, which is the key to *all coaching* and that's why they won. Many coaches wouldn't necessarily get the same results. Those that could are already coaching good teams right now. And those who don't aren't coaching at all.

US lost the 2002 worlds because they got bored and thought they could send anyone over instead of the top players as they do now. US has been sending MVPs these last few years. In 2002 they didn't send 1 superstar or a single 7 footer
Hell that team might not have even made NBA playoffs
The recruiting of players decides the outcome.

US has to send the top players and win on TALENT because the other teams are better coached and play year round together and have the chemistry and teamwork factor

Name some coaching from K that did anything. Extremely coachable atmosphere with everyone putting aside their egos for the international rule game but what did Coach K bring? US used their superior talent to take over games
It's not like they really ran an offense or special defense

US used their superior talent to take over games It's not like they really ran an offense or special defense Well there's no need to try and dissolve this into a talent versus coaching debate because talent is and has always been superior for the US. Everyone knows they have the most talent every competition. Having one excuse about a tourney is ok. 2 excuses is pushing it. 3 is just nonsense. Coaching and talent got the job done. Getting players to manage their egos is part of the job. Phil Jackson did just that in 1999 when he came to the Lakers because of his communication abilities. I think Krzyzewski has the same ability to communicate as indicated not only by his results but what each of the players has to say about his coaching those teams. Got be able to put aside personal taste for facts. |
