Love it Sammy. But if you read the comments on the tik tok page that video is on, it's apparent a lot of people still don't understand why the families didn't shake their hands. Some outright calling those family members Democrat actors...smh.

Perhaps you are just learning what law is and has always really been about.

Perhaps you are just learning what law is and has always really been about. My understanding if what law has always been about is that ignorance of it is no excuse. If I drive 70 mph in a 45 zone and claim that I didn't see the posted speed limit, I still get a damned ticket. If a king president steals classified documents and claims that he didnt realize he was breaking the law, he goes free?

If you examine law from a historical perspective, how it applies to power and how it applies to peasants, there is a distinct separation in how law applies. Anyone with enough capital can hire law representation to circumvent laws. Trump is simply playing the game because he knows how it works. He is a career fraud artist who is now using legal representation to argue presidential immunity on everything. All I see now is legal fallout that makes a mockery out of the entire judicial process.

Here's a youtube clip of the mother and brothers of the officer who died right after Jan. 6th who refused to shake McConnell's and McCarthy's hands as they were receiving that award. They explain why they didn't do it in the interview. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYVOZtBrlMQ

By the way, the murder of Tyre Nichols by those 5 black officers in Memphis also underscores another reality I have always believed.
It's not just the color of the cops that is significant, it's the institutional bias and police culture that has been deeply embedded in police departments all over this country for centuries which has bred police brutality in communities of color. Their aim has never been to "protect and serve" it has been to patrol and control, particularly when it comes to communities of color.
Trust and believe, I am just as afraid of black and brown cops as I am white cops. In fact, some black cops are worse than white ones imo. Generally speaking, all cops regardless of color are not completely immune from the racism embedded in local and state police agencies. The most egregious interaction I had with a cop was Latino in fact.
But this reality will continue to be swept under the rug by all the usual suspects like Fox News, the MAGA chimps, and all the other conservative media machines.

There needs to be massive police reform in this blue mob run country. Massive Sam....it's been decades overdue. It has. Americans will fight tooth and nail for freedom from covid measures but are perfectly okay to live in a gestapo like police state. Why? Because we are selfish fucks who only care about number 1 and couldn't care about the society at large. The police brutality affects a few in minority so who cares. That's the mentality. The neanderthal culture of this land.

The fact that these officers have already been fired and arrested at least speaks to some modicum of progress. Doesn't help Tyre Nichols much though...

Previously in this thread I had stated that I thought Pete Buttigieg would make for a good candidate for the Democratic Party in 2024. I am rescinding that endorsement and calling a shithead corporate fuckface, a shithead corporate fuckface.
He is the US Secretary of Transportation with authorities to oversee all things transportation in the country. In the last several months we’ve seen private industry exploit the public in insidious ways, namely these catastrophic train crashes in the rust belt.
Obama had passed legislation to increase oversight on the rail industry in the name of safety. Con man repealed those laws. Biden hasn’t reinstated such laws and now we’ve seen not 1 but several crashes in just the last few weeks. Just months before this Biden and his administration sided against the railway workers when they had organized a strike. In doing so Biden sided with the private rail companies whom are in favor of less oversight and safety regulations in order to increase profit. This toxic relationship between state and private power is the reason we live in a dystopian landscape.
Of course, this criticism isn’t a signal to support the “other” side as the Republican Party has advocated this type of relationship for generations.
But Pete Buttigieg’s lack of action and leadership disqualifies him from ever running for a major office again imo. I thought he had a stronger backbone but I was wrong. He is a corporate cuck just like the rest.

The knee jerk reactions of the Repubs to defend Trump were predictable and comical.
I know this was all about political posturing and not due to any real love for the man...but it has a real psychological effect on the true believers.
The danger to all this is found in history. When Hindenburg made Hitler Chancellor, the thought was that by bringing Hitler in, they could better control him.
But they only gave him legitimacy and entrenched his power base within the "legitmate" power structure.
Hitler went from a man who started a pitiful coup from a beer hall, to the unchallenged leader of Germany. We all know how that turned out.
The Repubs have already lost control over their party. I hope they don't hand the reigns of control to criminals, racists, autocrats, nativists, and megalomaniac that lead to dictatorship.
People may laugh at the thought and trust the system and the people.....but should we?

People may laugh at the thought and trust the system and the people.....but should we? Republicans lost control of their party in 2016 but had abandoned parliamentary politics long before that. It operates like a drug cartel cult now. In somewhat defense of their shoddy political apparatus, they are trying to shed Trump from their political limelight but I have no doubt they will sell the country down the river if Trump maintains his stronghold on the party in 2024. I had been hoping he would split their base and run as a 3rd party but I think it’s more likely the Republicans conform and again embrace his tyrannical political storm next year if push comes to shove. Regarding history, there is so much more going on right now in world history than even in 1933. There are parallels to pre WWI and other parallels to pre WWII and also entirely new threats; namely nuclear holocaust and ecological collapse. The ball is already set in motion since Putin invaded Ukraine and now it’s just a matter of which is the next domino to fall next. There will be more. They will rock financial markets when they do. One thing I’ve noticed an uptick with in US media in the past 6 months is an onslaught of anti China framing and story telling. Some of it par for the course, other elements brand new. After Iraq’s false premise of “Weapons of mass destruction” there isn’t much that the state department and its media puppet allies can’t convince the US public of thinking. That’s been our vulnerability for a long time but seemingly even easier in the digital age.

The thing that's crazy is that if Obama was accused of half the stuff Trump has done, the Republicans and Trump's MAGA cult followers in Congress would have made sure that he was sent UNDER the jail. Obama may not have ever finished his 1st term let alone running for a second one.
It's beyond me how some of these people like Jeb Bush, Pence, DeSantis, Lindsey Graham and others Trump has publicly TRASHED have come out and defended Trump over this indictment. Whether the case has much merit or not, it would seem to me like these guys would at the very least not come out and support the man who has trashed them and even publicly talked about how ugly their wives were (the case of Jeb Bush). These people act like Trump has something over them or like he's their daddy.
