The thing that's crazy is that if Obama was accused of half the stuff Trump has done, the Republicans and Trump's MAGA cult followers in Congress would have made sure that he was sent UNDER the jail. Obama may not have ever finished his 1st term let alone running for a second one. It's beyond me how some of these people like Jeb Bush, Pence, DeSantis, Lindsey Graham and others Trump has publicly TRASHED have come out and defended Trump over this indictment. Whether the case has much merit or not, it would seem to me like these guys would at the very least not come out and support the man who has trashed them and even publicly talked about how ugly their wives were (the case of Jeb Bush). These people act like Trump has something over them or like he's their daddy. I think all it means is that you understand hypocrisy IS the system. Most people are under delusions and you can’t change those delusions with fact truth or reason.

Most people are under delusions and you can’t change those delusions with fact truth or reason. True and an argument can be made that there's hypocrisy to a certain degree by both sides. But I've never seen a political party like the Republican party so deeply enamored with a personality that they are willing to ignore the rule of law, the principles they have claimed to abide by (their so-called family values), and democracy for the sake of keeping a man who is the antithesis of everything that is decent. Facts, reason, and decent humanity no longer matters to large segments of the Republican Party--particularly the MAGA chimps.

A further sign of parliamentary decay and dysfunction, the Republican controlled House expelling 2 Democrat members from the house is a blatant act of anti democratic values that permeates within the Republican Party. There is no legitimate excuse for the move that tells the people of America your vote doesn’t count.
When I said the modern day Republican Party is operating like a cult it was not hyperbole. They made examples out of constituents who aren’t staying in line with the status quo. The status quo keeps us all living the same permanent quagmire of survival.
Surely the move is also related to the charges against Donald Trump, a sign that the ship is sinking because no one is willing to work with one another any more. This does not excuse the action and if I lived in either of those Tennessee districts I would be compelled to become radicalized.
I had to say something about this because it’s a dire sign of where we are headed.

I can't stand either party right now. Both are a disservice to this country in their own ways, some overlapping, imo.

It’s unprecedented what happened. For sure one of them—Justin Jones is going to be back in his position as early as Monday due to an appointment by the Nashville city council. Not sure about Justin Pearson (from Memphis). Both are popular in their districts. This isn’t over by a long shot. And those Republicans only gave those 3 lawmakers a bigger national profile.

Justin Jones just got reappointed back to his position as a state legislature for Nashville.
LOL at the Republicans who voted him out last Thursday.

Tucker Carlson just got fired from Fox News.... No surprise it comes after they settled with Dominion for 787 million dollars. And Fox still has a 2.6 billion dollar lawsuit coming against them from Smartmatic.

The crazy thing is that there is still more coming….
He’s also going to get indicted for election meddling in Georgia.
“Find me 11,000 votes!!!” to the Georgia Secretary of State.
Remember that? It’s just getting started.

The measure is of note after the Mar-a-Lago raid, thought to be connected to government documents.

37 felonies charged and his lawyers just quit.
Boy is the state taking steps to prevent his running again in 2024.

Trump calls Bill Barr, the attorney general he picked personally 5 years ago, a “Gutless Pig” because Barr appeared on Fox News to give insight on the charges filed against him, in which Barr called him “toast” even if “only half” of the charges were true.
Trump went on to call him “weak” “lazy” and “ineffective.”
The latent con artist fuck face also said “virtually everyone” says the indictment is about Election Interference. Virtually everyone is a euphemism for people confined within the Trump cult. David Koresh spoke in this way. Charles Manson spoke in those ways as well. “Everyone” is limited to those who lick Trump’s asshole lips willingly and passionately. There is no room for anything else.
They love that Trump shit.

Former federal prosecutor says Trump has an “easy out” from the 37 felony charges:
“He said all Trump needs is a judge completely in the tank for him — a judge who is willing to sacrifice their reputation in order to protect him.
White thinks Trump might get one: Judge Aileen Cannon.”
The “easy out” is open corruption, so open that you no longer whisper these truths about power and corruption, you speak it wide open because the sheeple wouldn’t know what to do about it anyway.

Cannon has ruled in Trumps favor in other cases. There is a movement to have her recused from the case, but fat chance that will happen.
I mean if Justice Thomas can flaunt conflict of interest rules, what chance is there that some lower level federal judge will seriously consider the same issues differently?
The Repubs have played the game masterfully, first gaining state and local legislatures through divisive local political issues (complaints of crime and drugs and affirmative action and reverse discrimination....all code words for uppity minorities getting too big for their britches).
This turned into control of the key states and governorships. Then this led to gerrymandering to the extreme, essentially structurally changing the nature of voting (this is how a Democratic state like Texas and Kansas has now become reliability and maybe permanently conservative and Republican).
Which then leads to the House and Senate deeply divided because of the now almost even split between Dems and Repubs.
Then the unprecedented use of filibusters to essentially break government. Government inaction inevitably favors the Repubs who claim that government is broken and shouldn't be trusted...well it's because they broke it.
The final leg was the judiciary. The Repubs use of the filibuster to prevent certain judicial nominees to advance and McConnells unprecedented move to block Obama's choice for Scalia's replacement essentially changed the makeup of the Supreme Court for a generation.
And this has borne immediate fruit in the rulings against Roe v Wade and even state control of it own gun regulations for the safety of its citizens (should be a States right issue according to the Repubs until it isnt).
People throw up their hands and say "I hate both sides" but that is a false equivalency. The Dems are, if anything, naive and unable to play the political long game like they used to. They fight the wrong battles and mostly amongst themselves.
But throwing up your arms and saying government sucks is exactly what Repubs want. They don't want government to work. They want the rich to get rich and control everything and more. They want to powerful to stay powerful and increasingly undemocratic if not outright facist.
This is exactly the reaction the Repubs want. They want violent radical fascist to be their foot soldiers in completely eliminating any semblance of ordered and fair government.
You doubt me? Listen to Trump's rhetoric when he was arraigned. He openly advocated for violence against the proecutors. You can laugh at that until it happens.
Hitler was a joke, until he wasn't. Many of the tools he used are the same tools being used now. We really have to wake up or it will be us.

Many of the tools he used are the same tools being used now. We really have to wake up or it will be us. I agree with everything said here. But the highlighted part is what really triggers me. There is always going to be a degree of hypocrisy and both parties being servant to the corporate power structure to a degree, no doubt. However, Trumpism has completely soiled and toxified the Republican Party. All of the culture wars, the out of control lax gun laws, and racist rhetoric are all coming from right wing politicians and the right wing base in this country. At one time, it was shameful to push conspiracy theories, outright lies, and racist rhetoric but now it's normalized and part of the Republican Party playbook in order to get elected or stay in power. The "both sides suck" argument to me makes no sense when you look at the political climate, dangerous rhetoric, and dangerous laws being passed and pushed by Republican lawmakers. I'm not saying the Democratic Party is perfect, but it's nowhere near the toxic cesspool the Republican Party has become. To add to Hack's argument, the Democrats really began to take their foot off the brake when Obama was in office. While he had 8 years in the White House, they largely ignored what was going on in local and state governments where Republicans were winning and building momentum and their coalition. By the time Trump took power, Republicans had taken much power in state governments and began to aggressively gerrymander districts stripping voting power from districts with largely black and democratic voters (I may add with the help of the Supreme Court in the Shelby County vs Holder case in 2013) which struck down the key element in the Voting Rights Act that made it so that southern states could not disenfranchise black voters. It's a big reason why a state such as Florida that was once a swing state has become a pretty solid red state. A state that Obama won in 2008 and 2012. Same with North Carolina. Both parties may not be what people want them to be, but the "both sides suck" argument is lame because at least the Democratic Party is not beholden to a con man and trying to push laws and policies that marginalize minority groups, strip voting rights away from American citizens through insidious tactics, and trying to remove economic safety nets for the elderly. Doesn't sound like "both sides" are equally at fault for what we have going on today, that sounds like "one" side doing the majority of damage.
