True but what’s also interesting to me about Americans is we will point to the latent corruption of money that dictates what politicians (and private entities) will do, shamelessly but won’t make the connection to the 19th century criticism of capitalism. That criticism essentially says that on a long enough timeline capitalism will cannibalize itself. When politicians are simply bought off by private entities to work in the favor of the highest bidder, and the people openly know this, that is the actualization of that prescient critique. Because nobody, especially politicians wants that scary boogeyman label placed on them—SOCIALIST! But when natural catastrophes hit their states they have their hands out waiting for government assistance. It’s one of the biggest hypocritical acts there ever was. And these politicians just hurt their own constituents in the process because they’re too drunk on that kool aid too. Correct. Because a 100 year propaganda campaign took place to misinform and mislead what Socialism actually is. It’s the roads you drive on. It’s the parks you visit. It’s social security. It’s unemployment benefits. It’s the fire department. It’s the police and military. And many more things. Every single country in the world has socialism. The degrees vary but amongst all developed nations there is a large dose of public control over market forces. Universal healthcare is #1, easily the most important issue for Americans to embrace, something that would save Americans 3 trillion dollars over a decade and eliminate exorbitant post visit fees, lower drug costs by 10x times, and make regular healthcare visits accessible and affordable for everyone. But if that private sector that profits by the 100s of billions a year has you skullfucked into submission you are the problem. Moreover misnomer #1 in this manipulation is that if you advocate socialism it means capitalism is no longer apart of the economy. FALSE! Every country participates in the global economy through capitalistic means. China, the largest Communist nation on earth has a vast capitalistic economy. If you don’t know that or don’t know how this works, you’ve been manipulated by propaganda.

And yes, we have both a socialist and capitalist economy--I have to reiterate that point to all of my students every semester because many of them by the time they are seniors in high school believe we are a pure capitalist society which is absolutely false.

This will not stop Trump from campaigning, but this lawsuit in NY that's targeting his business for 250 million dollars appears to weigh heavy on him.
Dude has been lashing out at everybody on his weak social media platform. Him actually showing up to court 2 days in a row means at the very least he's scared and that he cares very much about his business taking a significant hit.
AND the fact that his cockroach attorneys failed to get him a jury to decide his business' fate was so comical to see. He's going to be at the mercy of the judge who Trump has lashed out at and who appears to have no mercy on king cockroach. I hope the AG succeeds in draining this mofo and his cockroach sons.

Next domino to fall in world events occurred on Saturday when Hamas attacked Israel. The extent of their actions was pretty astonishing to me, crossing Israeli borders by land, air and sea converging on a music festival massacring scores of people and kidnapping many others. Thus far, at least 1200 people have been counted as dead and another est 150 are currently being held captive.
In response Israel, taking cues from its international ally the United States has committed war crimes against Palestine bombing Gaza with more bombs in 5 days than the U.S. used against Afghanistan in a full year. 432,000 have already been displaced with their homeland turned to rubble and 1.1 million more have been given a 24 hour warning to flee North Gaza immediately, a warning the United Nations has publicly called “impossible” to adhere to. Approximately 2000 Palestinians have perished in the Israeli response.
Make no mistake about it, this is the most significant event to happen in this 100+ year conflict in at least 50 years, most of our lifetimes. This effectively sets the region on fire, something that will spread to other regions no doubt.
In Europe pro Palestinian rallies are being banned outright in countries like France and Germany and here in the U.S. the media is calling for a similar blackout of such rallies or speech entirely. This would be a flagrant violation of the 1st amendment and yet the comfort from which mainstream media is calling for it is incredulous. Several prominent US journalists have already been fired from CNN, the Associated Press and the Guardian over thoughts deemed “pro Palestinian” in the past 48 hours. In the country who pretends that it is the pinnacle of “free speech” in the world. Mind boggling.
With Russia already in Ukraine, this conflict further sets the world on fire and a clear sign from my perspective that more conflicts will follow.

Precarious times. WW3 is dangerously close. Hopefully things can get resolved somehow without too many escalations or spiraling totally out of control.

With Russia already in Ukraine, this conflict further sets the world on fire and a clear sign from my perspective that more conflicts will follow. Glad you brought this up 2b. I was explaining this situation to my mother today because she said she didn’t understand the nature of the conflict. Every American media outlet regardless of their political leanings (CNN, MSNBC, Fox) report about this conflict from an Israeli perspective. Not surprisingly so in that Israel is a U.S. ally. However, it’s unfortunate because the people who have the loudest voices on this subject are often the same people who lack a historic contextual understanding of this conflict. All you hear about is the atrocities committed by Hamas from American media outlets. However, you don’t hear much at all about the atrocities Israel has committed against the Palestinians. Not just now as they are bombing Gaza day and night but how over the last 7 decades, Palestinian people have had to endure water shortages, food shortages, and the difficulties of getting the basic necessities of life. I’m not at all justifying what Hamas did, but when people have felt violated long enough some will retaliate in destructive ways that will inevitably deepen the conflict. Further, if you don’t understand the geopolitical undercurrent of U.S. and Israel’s foreign policy as it relates to Palestine, then it just breeds more people slurping American propaganda about Palestine. And sadly, if you take a stand for what Palestinians have endured you risk being ostracized, blacklisted, and even being fired by your employer. To your point, not much was different if you protested against the U.S. involvement in WWI if you lived back then. Citizens 1st Amendment rights were being violated, they were jailed, and in some cases even deported. Not much different than what is going on right now for anyone who dares to stand up for the Palestinians. But yes, this is huge and will have a large ripple effect in the region and the potential to create more widespread global instability.

The Israeli government and the US government are full of shit. Saying so does not make me antisemitic anymore than it makes me anti American. I will exercise my right to FREE SPEECH over parroting propaganda from lying governments with a documented history of deliberately lying.
A rocket blast targeted a hospital in Gaza yesterday and killed 471 innocent people. Doctors, nurses, women and children were all vaporized by an evil entity that would sink so low as to target a hospital in a time of war. According to Nuremberg trials targeting civilian targets in occupied territory is a war crime. Period.
To deflect from this mass atrocity Israel says Hamas misfired their own rocket and it just so happened to precisely hit the hospital. Lots and lots of buildings that a misfired rocket could theoretically hit but Hamas did it, case closed, and US Department of Defense says they stand by same claim made by Israel. Senile Biden lands in Israel just hours before this and he parrots the same bullshit. THIS is why I don’t trust governments, NOT Covid vaccines. They will commit the acts of genocide then lie about it flagrantly, with their “free press” media constituency mirroring the same claims with no pushback. That’s not a free press, it is a controlled press.
If you have evidence that Hamas, share it. Show the world. But they won’t and making lies like “Weapons of mass destruction” will just fly for the majority of chimpanzee citizens.

It's hard to blindly believe anything the government(s) tell us. Weapons of mass destruction was one of many. It doesn't even matter the party/regime - both will lie to us. In certain situations it seems they are just another side of the same coin. Yes Biden is senile and borderline useless but he's also a direct result of Trump who imo was a direct result of Hillarys nomination.
Another thing I'm sick of with both parties is the willingness to not call out bullshit just for the sake of keeping votes from that sector of dumbasses in our country. The fringe morons aren't being called out as such enough imo. I think (I hope) most of us are more center than far right or far left. The more either party accepts the fringe loons the more we are in danger of electing one and ending up further and further into either direction. Maybe we're headed for the same place no matter who is in office.

The more either party accepts the fringe loons the more we are in danger of electing one and ending up further and further into either direction. Maybe we're headed for the same place no matter who is in office. I think we are headed for a crash course of economic downfall that neither party in the US duopoly system can avert. You can only go so far into debt before it collapses any system. 33 trillion and counting is unsustainable. The price on paying back the interest alone is in the hundreds of billions per year. This is the financial elites way of breaking the system; they avoid taxation thru laws written to permit them to do so creating an income deficiency for the nation. As a consequence the fed has to borrow the money from the financial elites that hold the capital and fail to pay taxes. They get paid back with interest. This is a vicious cycle that perpetuates all economic problems further. Meanwhile, government representatives go around blaming the other party for the shortcomings of government serving the people. The US never recovered from the crash of 2008 and have only duct taped the system to limp forward, doubling the National debt along the way. Many signs currently point to another looming crash, perhaps this time on par with 1929. Financial elites were doing quite well in the early 20th century much like they are today only to a far greater extent now. We are currently living in a time where the richest of Americans have more wealth compared to the average American than the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt held compared to their slave population. Mind boggling but mathematically true. Military adventurism is a sure fire way to collapse the empire. It happened to the British, the Romans and the Peloponnesians. The US meddling in Ukraine and the Middle East and in Northern Africa, plus a looming showdown in the South China seas makes for a situation ripe for an epic downfall and a new world order.

Maybe we're headed for the same place no matter who is in office. That may be true about some who got behind Trump, but never underestimate the fact that this country had a black president for not just one but two terms. Trump's rise to power was more than Hillary, it was a backlash from those who would never say so publicly, but who also resented the fact that this country elected a young articulate African American man to the highest office in the land. Something many (including myself back in 2008) thought would not happen in my lifetime. Donald Trump represented and appealed to a sentiment that many lower-middle class whites, particularly blue-collar white Americans feel--that the progress minorities have made and continue to make, along with the fast changing demographics of the country is a direct threat to their existence and way of life. Of course, not all lower-middle class whites feel that way, but trust and believe many of them did and still feel that way today. Just look at the kind of crowds that go to these crazy MAGA rallies. Trump continually tells them that they are victims and that progressives, women, people of color, or any underrepresented group that fights for civil rights is a direct threat to them. He calls them Marxists, socialists, communists, anarchists, and left-wing radicals. And his supporters continue to drink that kool-aid everyday. It's the same thing what white supremacists and segregationists in the 50s and 60s said about civil rights leaders and anyone else who agreed with them in that era. This is not about and never has been about Republican vs Democrat to me. It's always been about protecting democracy--whatever is left of that, what is right, and human decency. There's certainly a chance Trump will be the Republican nominee again (at least that's how it looks right now) in 2024 and if that is the case, I don't care who the other candidate will be on the opposing ticket, but I know who I will NOT be supporting if things play out this way and I make no apologies for that.

Now three of the Trump lawyer cockroaches have pleaded guilty in Atlanta for trying to illegally overturn the election in Georgia.
While I think they're receiving a slap on the wrist punishments--they should have their law licenses permanently revoked, this has to be worrisome for Trump.
Cohen testified in court today about Trump lying about inflating the value of his properties in NY and telling his executives to do the same when he worked for him. We'll see what comes of this, but it's revealing that out of all the cases pending against Trump, the one in NY concerning his properties is the only one he has shown up for in person even though he is not required to be there.
Keep your popcorn out. I'm enjoying watching these cockroaches squirm and hopefully be forced to testify against King cockroach.

Guilty, guilty, guilty
Trump was found guilty of falsfying business records as it related to him having sex with a porn actress and paying her off to help him in the 2016 election.
I'm finally happy that this con man is a convicted felon. I don't care if it emboldens his supporters, but I do know that this is not going to help him in November.

I have to admit I was a bit surprised to see the law apply to Teflon Don this time. He knows the system isn’t supposed to work this way; laws only apply to the minions not kings. It seems to me this will drag out for a long time with appeals and if he still manages to run a successful campaign, he’ll pardon himself and punish everyone involved. Frightening to think about the tilt that would have on society but alas this is Dumbfuckistan.

The only thing that surprised me was the verdict coming in so soon. I thought at the earliest the jury would have a verdict this afternoon. I'm not surprised he was found guilty as I told a few of my friends on Wednesday that he was going to be found guilty this time because of the overwhelming amount of circumstantial evidence that the prosecution brilliantly laid out. Michael Cohen's testimony especially made sense to the jurors and I'm happy they were able to see through all the misdirection tactics that Trump's lawyers tried to do. You are right in that the appeals will drag it out, but he will get sentenced in July. But this will not play well for Trump in November. Of course, all the chimp MAGAs don't care and will still vote for him, but it only takes votes away from him as independents and even some moderate Republicans are not going to back him because of this.

This verdict, unfortunately, won't have the force of affect that would take Trump off the ballot. He's got the Supreme Court in his pocket, and many lower level appeals court judges on his side as well. This is as close to a fascist regime as we might get if Trump were to win this election. I might have thought this was hyperbole 10 years ago, but I feel it's a legitimate concern now. I can't imagine what kind of unhinged anti-democratic decrees he will seek and what mob-Freikorp like goons he will seek to do his bidding.
The verdict will galvanize his supporters, and Democratics and generally democracy loving people have to galvanize even more to counteract this threat.
I hope people who have issues with Biden, those that might even hate Biden, understand the gravity of the situation and vote for democracy. Sounds cheesy, but I really think this is true this time around.
I know knowledgeable, intelligent, people who say "Oh Trump is just saying things for effect. He doesn't really mean it and his politics are more in line with conservatives." To which I say, after awhile, when someone keeps saying the same things, you should start to believe that they are what they say.
This is not about fiscal policy. It's not about LBGTQ rights. It's not about abortion. It's really about democracy, separation of power, and a rejection of fascist dictator-like rhetoric and actions.

I mean if people still believe that Trump is just “saying things for effect”, then I question under what rock they have been living under since 2016. It’s more understandable if they thought they back in 2015 (but even then how could you not take what he said seriously), but to believe that now with his track record is just being willfully stupid. What’s worse is when I hear some minorities try to convince themselves that Trump actually cares about them and can relate to them because of the so-called “injustice” happening to Trump…...what???😡😡😡 This stopped being about anything related to policy as far back as 2015 as far as I’m concerned. It was ALWAYS about democracy, decency, humanitarianism, and keeping a very dangerous man from assuming the most powerful office in the U.S. and arguably the world. The person running against him on the opposing ticket was always and continues to be a distant second to those concerns.

It's not about abortion. It's really about democracy, separation of power, and a rejection of fascist dictator-like rhetoric and actions. The only thing I’m positive about is that the messaging you’re relaying here will fail. I think the sham democracy that’s been embedded in society is nearing its life cycle. Everything our parents and grandparents once believed about this country is no longer true. The US’s economic dominance in the world has been upended and the strings holding it together are becoming harder and harder to maintain. Imperialism always ends badly. The 2 party system is fake democracy. If there were in fact more than two closely aligned options that weren’t beholden to archaic 18th century genocidal settler colonial decries, I think you could make a stronger argument about “saving” democracy. In modern day democracies count votes live with the entire country seeing results in real time on Election Day. Not counting ballots by hand subject to human error and insidious intent to subvert results like they were in Arizona and various counties in the last election and every other one before. Real democracy means everyone votes, not less than half, not bullshit voter id checks on vote day meant to deter voters from voting etc. That’s not a real democracy. In real democracies there are 3, 4 even 6 parties on ballot all of whom can legitimately take power in an election. Not be cock blocked by Senate and House ,judicial dominance of the same 2 controlling parties that deny any meaningful representation. You can see very clearly that the people are very much fed up with this fake democracy even if it leads them into the hands of a fake populist with malintent. Trump has only been able to successfully take hold of the Republican Party for now 3 election cycles because the constituency is over the status quo. I think many on the left side are also over it but are reverting to protectionism because of fear of Trump. I warned that this would work one time but not 2 last election. Joe Biden IS the middle of American politics. He’s right wing Joe, who voted along Reaganite Republican lines thru his time in the Senate. He championed the crime bills that put millions of men in prison for life in the 90s. His state of Delaware is epicenter for the ascension of credit card culture that now dominates society. He’s changed with the times to pick the right messaging like BLM, LGBTQ rights etc but in terms of those messages taking form in the real world, it’s mostly politico speak. He’s enabled Genocide in Gaza and failed to expand healthcare. The economics look good on the Dow scoreboard but not on working Americans bank accounts. This IS the corporate controlled middle. What lies to the right of that is undoubtedly worse but only if you understand politics and economics beyond the messaging level. Vast majority of Americans don’t. It is almost as though we need Trump to burn it all to the ground in order to start all over again like it’s 1776.
